Tulsa's Ray Crawford in the super of Pat
Suchy. This car was a true hybrid, originally built by Darrell Cleveland and then
rebuilt with several modifications by Dale Parson. The body was even a hybrid, it was a
Broken Arrow Fiberglass 30 Ford duck tail with a Parson top. This car was always
fast and many races and championships were won by Harold Leep and Benny Taylor in the
cockpit. |
 |
Scott Denney of Oklahoma City behind the wheel of
his father Dale's car. Scott was one of the nicest people I ever met at the race
track. I expected him to be a star of the future, but I don't know why he quit. My
guess is money. This is another Walker Racing Enterprises chassis. |
 |
Mario Fuentes of Juarez, Mexico. This guy
was always fast and went everywhere the NCRA went. Many times I can recall people in the
pits saying "who is that guy". |
 |
Harold Leep came out of retirement to start his
2nd racing career. Here Harold is driving the Jelly's Performance Engineering ultra
light coilover car, this car was very light for its time. A little note about Jelly,
not only did Jelly build his own cars and parts, but he built parts for Speedway Motors. |
 |
Don Ratliff of Tulsa in a
Walker Racing chassis. |
 |
Wichita's Roy Bryant working on
his Nance car. |
 |
This was one stand on the gas driver, sometimes
it got him in trouble, but he was fun to watch. Mike Stewart is his name and he is from
Tulsa. |
 |
Taren McKeon of Tulsa driving
his own super. |
 |
Pete York, another driver who came out of
retirement to try a 2nd racing career. Pete was from Tulsa. |
